Finding and Buying Used Industrial Equipment

Would it surprise you to learn that you can find high quality industrial equipment at savings of 50 percent or more? When you buy used industrial equipment you are getting the same great performance for a fraction of the cost. Industrial equipment is built to last, so it often has many years of life left in it when a company goes under or upgrades and needs to sell. That's good news to you! My name is Ryan, and I can teach you how to find the best used equipment for your manufacturing plant at the lowest possible price. Come read all about it.

3 Benefits to Using Aluminum Over Steel

by Patricia Brooks

If you need to have some custom pieces milled from metal, for whatever reason, one of the decisions that you are going to have to make is whether you want to have it made out of aluminum or stainless steel. These two metals are the most common metals that workpieces are made out of. The people doing the milling might suggest that you go with aluminum for your part. Aluminum has several benefits that make it a better choice than stainless steel.

Weight

Aluminum is lighter than stainless steel, which means that when you have two different projects that are identical, except for the metals they are made of, they are going to be different weights. The weight savings may not be necessary on everything, but in certain applications, the lighter the piece, the better. For example, in an aircraft, weight matters a lot, so many of its parts are made out of aircraft aluminum because they are going to be lighter and help to keep the overall weight down. High-performance vehicles often have as many aluminum parts as possible for the same reason.

Non-Corrosive

One big problem with steel is that it rusts and corrodes over time. That weakens the metal and can cause problems in the long run. Aluminum doesn't do that. It oxidizes, which means that it has some reaction to oxygen, but where steel rusts, aluminum creates a film covering the material. That film actually protects the aluminum, which lets the project made of the metal last longer, even when it is exposed to the elements for a long period of time.

Malleability

Aluminum is more elastic and malleable than steel. Those features can come in handy, especially because aluminum can be worked into different shapes and more extreme shapes. When aluminum is shaped and milled, the person working on it is able to push the designs out and mill them into more forms. This also makes aluminum much more versatile and useful than steel. Steel is strong but relatively brittle, so trying to form it into some of the shapes that aluminum can be put into would cause the steel pieces to fail, especially when put under pressure.

If you need to have metal pieces created for your manufacturing process or to help with your product, then you might consider using aluminum. There are several reasons to use aluminum instead of using steel, and the company you are working with will talk to you about the reasons that you should choose to go with aluminum over stainless steel.
